Website and technical work, by the hour
For the jobs that are not a full build — fixes, migrations, plugin messes and the site somebody else left behind.
Not every website job is a new build. Sometimes a site works fine except for the one form that stopped sending. Sometimes a plugin update took the layout apart. Sometimes a previous developer disappeared and nobody knows where the site is hosted, who owns the domain, or how to get into it. This is the service for all of that.
Typical work includes fixing broken pages, forms and layouts, plugin and theme conflicts, WordPress and PHP version upgrades, moving a site between hosts, sorting out domain and DNS records including email records that break mail delivery, cleaning up a hacked or spam-injected site, speed and performance work, and adding pages or functionality to a site somebody else built.
It also covers the technical groundwork around a website: connecting Google Analytics and Search Console, setting up redirects properly after a rebuild so you do not lose your search rankings, SSL certificate problems, and untangling the account access when nobody is certain what is registered where or in whose name.
The rate is $85 to $100 per hour depending on the type and complexity of the work, and I confirm which rate applies before starting rather than after. You get an estimate of hours up front, and if a job turns out to be bigger than it looked, you hear about it before the extra time is spent. Approved rush and after-hours work is $110 per hour.
How it works
Describe the problem
A short call or email is usually enough to tell what is going on and roughly what it takes.
Estimate before work
You get the applicable rate and an estimate of hours before anything is touched.
Fixed and documented
The work gets done and you are told what was wrong, in language that makes sense.
Common questions
Will you work on a site you did not build?
Yes, that is most of this work. I will tell you honestly if a site is in bad enough shape that rebuilding costs less than repairing it.
Why is the rate a range?
Routine changes sit at the lower end and complex or higher-risk technical work sits at the upper end. I confirm which rate applies before starting, not after.
Do you offer emergency help?
You can call any time. Approved emergency and after-hours work is billed at $110 per hour, with availability and scope confirmed for the specific incident first.
